Simple Residential Recycling — Done the Right Way

Local Disposal Services offers residential recycling service designed to be straightforward and easy to follow. Our goal is to make recycling simple for homeowners while keeping routes efficient and contamination low.

Recycling works best when everyone knows what goes in the bin — and just as importantly, what doesn’t.

What Can Be Recycled

Our residential recycling program accepts common household recyclables, including:

  • Cardboard and paper products

  • Plastic bottles and containers

  • Aluminum and metal cans

  • Glass bottles and jars

All items should be empty, clean, and loose in the recycling container. Bagged recyclables are not accepted.

If you’re unsure about an item, it’s always better to leave it out and ask.

What Should Not Go in Recycling

To keep recycling loads usable, certain items should never be placed in the recycling bin:

  • Plastic bags or film

  • Food waste or liquids

  • Styrofoam

  • Clothing or textiles

  • Household trash

Contamination can cause entire loads to be rejected, which defeats the purpose of recycling. Keeping these items out helps ensure materials are actually recycled.

Why Recycling Rules Matter

Recycling isn’t just about putting items in a blue bin — it’s about making sure those materials can be processed properly.

When non-recyclable items are mixed in, it slows down processing, damages equipment, and can result in recyclables being sent to the landfill. Following simple guidelines helps the system work the way it’s intended.
